About

Laurie Loads is an experimental lighting designer. He is interested in finding glitch and nuance from less-familiar light sources. His designs speak in a recognisable voice of dazzling simplicity.

Laurie seeks to bridge the gap between the technical theatre designer and the creative performance maker, his lighting sits prominently in the dramaturgy of the works he interacts with through an understanding of collaboration and process. Laurie seeks to continue the proud legacy of experimentation and invention of lighting design in his works, usually finding a mechanical way to complicate a digital process.

Laurie recently completed a Masters in Light in Performance at Rose Bruford College. He works between Glasgow and London as a lighting artist and lighting designer for dance.
